Impacto de los puertos de Avilés y Gijón en la economía asturiana

Abstract

RESUMEN: Haciendo uso del análisis input-output, en este artículo se evalúa el impacto de los puertos de Gijón y Avilés sobre la economía del Principado de Asturias. Diferenciando, por un lado, entre industria portuaria e industria dependiente del puerto y, por otro, entre efectos directos, indirectos e inducidos, emphase pone de manifiesto que la actividad desarrollada por los puertos asturianos, fiel reflejo de la estructura productiva de la Comunidad, es de vital importancia para la economía del Principado, ya que supone, en promedio, en torno al 11 por100 del empleo y el 13 por 100 del VAB. Asimismo, se pone de relieve que el puerto de Gijón no sólo se muestra bastante más potente que el de Avilés, sino que, además, su impacto sobre la economía asturiana ha ido ganando enteros con el paso del tiempo.

ABSTRACT: Making use of input-output analysis, in this article we evaluate the impact of the ports of Gijón and Avilés on the economy of the Pnncipality of Asturias. Differentiating, on the one hand between port industry and port-dependent industry and, one the other. between direct, indirect and induced effects, we emphasize that the activity carried out by the Asturian ports -a true reflection of the productive structure of the Community-- is of vital importance for the Principality's economy, as it represents on average, some 11% of employment and 13% of GVA Furthermore. we underline the fact that the port of Gijón is not only of greater potential than that of Avilés, but also that its impact on the Asturian economy has increased considerably over the years.
