Abstract:
ABSTRACT: This paper deals with the effect of price on the competitive structure of the European leagues. First we analyzed work´s target and then we have established the importance of football in a social and economic dimension, we talked about the number of people who watch football through television or the people that go to the soccer fields as money that football moves, eg wages. After we put the work in a theoretical framework, especially within the operational marketing, which analyzes the variables product, price, distribution and communication .Then we have focused on the price of tickets and subscriptions matches and the price of tv rights. First we have seen prices that football teams put and then we have seen whether there is relation to the average attendance at stadiums ,there is a big relation but there is also an important factor, sports results .After that we analyzed revenues TV rights for each league and we have seen that there were differences between the leagues. The distribution of rights is made differently and that have an effect on the competitive structure, leagues with more equitable distributions has a lot of teams matched, whereas when there were large differences in the distributions of these rights league was uneven and had clear dominators, so it has always the same dominators and you always knew who was going to win games and social and economic interest could be lost.
In leagues where there is an unequal distribution of rights, benefits only few teams who have all the money and are the only ones who can sign good players, but in leagues with more equal rights, all teams can sign good players and that will make the league much more equalized, which will be good for the competitive structure and increase the social interest,an example is the English League whereas a negative example is the Spanish League which has a bad right´s distribution and that affects the competition where Real Madrid and Barcelona are higher than the rest of the teams.
