Abstract:
This work presents a mass transfer analysis of carbon dioxide absorption in hollow fiber membrane contactors when the high carbon dioxide solubility ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate, is used as solvent. The separation devices, in parallel disposition, are based in a polypropylene (PP) and ceramic membranes (α – Al2O3). The overall mass transfer coefficients and the process efficiency are experimentally calculated and discussed in terms of the application for reaching a specific target of CO2 recovery.
