Abstract:
BIM is a new technology that aims to change the way of working until the moment in the construction industry. A great amount of studies can be found related to BIM, its advantages, disadvantages, examples of applications, studies about feasibility, etc. Furthermore, there are different approaches to be studied from the 3D design until the 6D approach consisting in its application to the Operation and Maintenance phase.
Regarding BIM application to Civil Engineering few software are available, Novapoint is one of the most advanced in that respect. This dissertation aims to solve the problem to handle the data required for the maintenance activities in Roads. The proposed solution implies a link between the different stages of the project, stakeholders and, in general, it is a way of achieving a classification, organization, as well as coordination and continuous updating for all the data generated all along the project.
