Abstract:
Abstract: This paper of Final Degree Project, seeks to study the figure of the "military martyr". To do this, firstly, we will analyze the historical context in which the process of emergence of this figure occurred, and the sources available for the study. Then, to create a good basis for our study, we will analyze the religiosity of the army and the Roman State, and the conceptions of peace and war in both. Turning to see the interrelationships between the roman army and Christianity.
Once established this basis, we will study the "military martyrs", analyzing their motivations for martyrdom, then analytically we will describe the whole process of martyrdom and not just in its legal dimension. And finally, we will collect the considerations that these men had, as well as the cult that developed around them, within the Christian religion.
