Resumen: Con este artículo queremos dar a conocer la contribución de Augusto González
de Linares a la historia intelectual, dentro de la ciencia y la fi losofía. Fue un naturalista
que conjugó el cultivo de las Ciencias Naturales, desde la defensa del evolucionismo, con
el proyecto teórico representado por el krausismo. Mientras que su literatura científi ca se
extiende preferentemente por las cuestiones de teoría, su legado más sobresaliente en el campo
de la ciencia fue de carácter institucional, al haber sido el fundador del primer Laboratorio
Español de Biología Marina, creado en 1886, conocido como Estación Marítima de Zoología y
Botánica Experimentales, que se estableció en Santander (España) en 1890, haciendo posible
los estudios oceanográfi cos.
Abstract: The aim of this article is to release the contribution of Augusto González de
Linares to the Intellectual History, inside the Science and the Philosophy. He was a naturalist
who combined the culture of Natural Science, from the defense of the evolucionism, with the
theoretical project represented by the Krausism. While his literary work is extended preferably
to the theory topics, his most outstanding legacy to the fi eld of Science had an institutional
nature. He was the founder of the fi rst spanish Laboratory of Marine Biology, created in 1886,
knowed as Maritimal Station of Experimental Zoology and Botany, which was established in
Santander (Spain) in 1890, makind possible the Oceanografi cs Studies.
