There are different measurement systems that can visualize the usual radio communications signals up to L band (0.95-2GHz) at a reasonable cost. Unfortunately, our student laboratory has only several obsolete spectrum analyzers model Hameg HM-5006 capable to measure up to 500 MHz. This frequency bandwidth is far away from the usual digital satellite and terrestrial TV signals at L band, so a frequency down conversion is necessary to properly view the above mentioned spectrum. The downconverter presented in this work, has been developed under the assumption of low cost and robustness, because the mainly users of this system are students, and the budget of the educational laboratories are usually low.es_ES
