Análisis del impacto de la pandemia Covid-19 sobre el sector industrial agroalimentario de España y Cantabria

Abstract

RESUMEN: El presente Trabajo de Fin de Master relaciona una temática que ha afectado la vida mundial desde marzo 2020, es decir la Pandemia Covid19; con una de las ramas industriales de mayor importancia económica para España como es la agroalimentación. La industria de la alimentación y bebida ha desempeñado a lo largo de la historia del país ibérico, intensificándose en las últimas décadas, un papel estratégico en su desarrollo y crecimiento. En Cantabria, por sus particularidades territoriales, climáticas, ubicación geográfica, este subsector ha sabido posicionarse y aprovechar las ventajas competitivas, convirtiéndose en una de las actividades que mayor valor añadido generan. Los efectos que el fenómeno sanitario mundial ha causado, en los más variados aspectos, son objeto de análisis y seguimiento continuo. Desde el punto de vista económico, las medidas tomadas para mitigar la crisis sanitaria, han traído durante el 2020, desplomes de la demanda, paralización de actividades no esenciales, limitaciones en la logística y transporte, entre otras; lo que ha representando un desafío para la supervivencia de muchos sectores empresariales. Este estudio tiene como objetivo analizar el Impacto de la Pandemia Covid-19 sobre el Sector Industrial Agroalimentario de España en general y de manera particular sobre la comunidad autónoma de Cantabria. Para lograrlo, se aborda un análisis descriptivo del mismo con el fin de exponer la importancia y magnitud que tiene a nivel nacional y regional. Sumado a ello, se caracterizan los efectos del Covid19 tanto de manera cualitativa y cuantitativa en el sector español, para luego a través de un análisis de variables y cifras económicas de empresas cántabras, exponer los efectos identificados en la comunidad autónoma. Del análisis de los resultados surge que el sector agroalimentario ha demostrado grandes fortalezas y capacidad de adaptación en los meses más duros del 2020. Si bien ha presentado consecuencias negativas en determinadas variables y cifras económicas; el efecto global fue significativamente menos perjudicial que para otros sectores de la economía y de la industria en general, tanto para España como para la gran comunidad autónoma de Cantabria.

ABSTRACT:The Final Master Project connects an issue that has been affecting world affairs since March 2020, namely the Covid19 pandemic, with one of the most economically important industries for Spain, agri-food. Throughout the history of the Iberian country, and reinforced in recent decades, the food and beverage industry has played a strategic role in its development and growth. In Cantabria, its territorial, climatic and geographical location characteristics have allowed this subsector to position itself and take advantage of competitive advantages, placing it among the activities with the greatest added value. The impact that the global health phenomenon has caused in various aspects is the subject of continuous analysis and observation. From an economic point of view, the measures taken to contain the health crisis in 2020 have led to, among other things, reductions in demand, paralysis of non-essential activities, and constraints in logistics and transportation, which has been a challenge to the survival of many sectors of the economy. The objective of this study is to analyze the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic on the Spanish agri-food industry in general and on the autonomous community of Cantabria in particular. To this end, a descriptive analysis is carried out to show the importance and magnitude of the pandemic at the national and regional levels. In addition, the impact of Covid19 is characterized both qualitatively and quantitatively in the Spanish sector, and then, through an analysis of variables and economic figures of Cantabrian companies, the impact in the autonomous community is shown. From the analysis of the results, it appears that the agri-food sector has shown great strength and adaptability in the most difficult months of 2020. Even if it had a negative impact on certain variables and economic figures, the overall impact was much lower than other economic and industrial sectors in general, both for Spain and for the large autonomous community of Cantabria.
