Una relectura de la conquista de México (1519-1521)

Abstract

RESUMEN: El objetivo de este trabajo es proporcionar una visión general de las diferentes etapas de la conquista de México (1519-1521) desde el desembarco de Cortés en Cozumel hasta la caída del poder azteca . Primero se hará una breve introducción de la figura de Cortés y su llegada al Nuevo Mundo; y después se procederá a presentar las diferentes situaciones del conquistador en Tierra Firme: la fundación de Veracruz, las alianzas con los indios, la matanza del templo mayor, noche triste o la caída de Tenochtitlán entre otras.

ABSTRACT: The aim of this paper is to provide a broad overview of the different stages of the conquest of Mexico (1519-1521), from the landing of Cortes in Cozumel to the overthrow of Aztec rule. First a brief introduction of the figure of Cortes and his arrival in the New World will be envisaged, to the followed afterwards by a sketch of the different situations of the Conqueror on the mainland: the foundation of Veracruz, alliances with the Indians, the socalled “La Matanza del Templo Mayor”, and “La Noche Triste” or the fall of Tenochtitlan, among others.
