Los procesos de periurbanización: el caso del municipio de Reocín en el área de Torrelavega

Abstract

RESUMEN Este Trabajo de Fin de Grado se apoya en la metodología del Análisis Geográfico Regional y se orienta al estudio de las relaciones entre el territorio y la sociedad y las diferentes maneras que presentan estos vínculos sobre la superficie terrestre. El objetivo específico del trabajo es conocer la dinámica socio-espacial de los espacios periurbanos de la periferia de ciudades industriales a través de un estudio de caso, el del municipio de Reocín como término periurbano de la ciudad industrial de Torrelavega, una de las ciudades más importantes de la Comunidad Autónoma de Cantabria. Se ha decidido este tema porque es interesante conocer la dinámica reciente de un espacio rural como es el del municipio de Reocín. El término municipal de Reocín se sitúa en el sector central de la comarca costera de la Comunidad Autónoma de Cantabria, favorecida tanto en términos económicos como sociales debido a su posición, ya que se vincula directamente con la ciudad de Torrelavega por su proximidad y accesibilidad. Es un área tradicionalmente minera, que se ha visto modificada por el cierre de la mina, la expansión urbanística fruto del crecimiento urbano de Torrelavega durante la industrialización y el auge económico de los primeros años del siglo XXI.

ABSTRACT This Grade Ending Project Work relies on the methodology of Regional Geographic Analysis and it is oriented toward the study of the relationships between the territory and the society, and the different ways these links show over the ground surface. The specific goal of this project is to know the socio-spatial dynamics of the peri-urban spaces of the industrial cities’ periphery through a case study, the municipality of Reocin as a peri-urban town of the industrial city of Torrelavega, one of the most important cities of the Autonomous Community of Cantabria. This topic has been decided because it is interesting to know the recent dynamics of a rural area as Reocin Township is. The municipality of Reocin is located at the central sector of the coastal region of the Autonomous Community of Cantabria, favored both in economical and social terms due to its location, because it is directly linked with the city of Torrelavega due to its proximity and accessibility. It is a traditionally miner area which has been modified by the closure of the mine, the urban expansion as a product of Torrelavega’s urban growth of during the industrialization and economic rise the first years of the 21st century.
