Las nuevas tecnologías y la ortografía adolescente

Abstract

RESUMEN: Tras hacer un breve marco teórico que sitúa el estado de la cuestión sobre las nuevas tecnologías, la comunicación y el lenguaje, se dedica una primera parte de este trabajo a una investigación en la que se han analizado dos conversaciones de adolescentes (chicos y chicas respectivamente) a través de la aplicación WhatsApp con el fin de responder a preguntas como: ¿la “neortografía” del lenguaje chat se refleja en conversaciones reales con estudiantes reales?, ¿cuáles son las peculiaridades ortográficas, léxicas y morfosintácticas más comunes en las conversaciones WhatsApp?, ¿existen diferencias lingüísticas en la muestra entre el sexo femenino y masculino en las conversaciones chat? Los resultados muestran que la “neortografía” se refleja en dichas conversaciones y que el uso de grafías fonéticas, truncación, estiramientos gráficos, minúsculas tras punto, ausencia de puntuación y acentuación, uso de vocativos o el predominio del presente de indicativo y elementos deícticos, son las peculiaridades más comunes en dichas conversaciones, habiendo diferencias entre la muestra de género femenino y la de género masculino. Finalmente, con la parte didáctica se pretende, principalmente, concienciar a los adolescentes de cuál es el contexto adecuado para utilizar el lenguaje chat.

ABSTRACT: After a brief theoretical framework which places the state of affairs on new technologies, communication and language, the first part of this paper is devoted to a research which analyzed two teen’s conversations (female and male) through the WhatsApp application with the aim of answering these questions: Is the new spelling chats reflected in real conversations with real students? What are the most common spelling, lexical and morphosyntactic peculiarities in the WhatsApp conversations? Are there linguistic differences between the female and male population in chat conversations? The results show that the chat orthography is reflected in these discussions and further, the use of phonetic graphical symbols, truncation, the stretching of graphical symbols, lowercase after point, the absence of punctuation and accentuation, the use of vocatives, the predominance of the present of indicative and deictic elements are the most common features in these discussions, having also differences between the female and male gender. Finally, the teaching part aims to educate teens what is the proper context to use chat language.
