RESUMEN: El sistema de becas y ayudas trata de garantizar el derecho a la educación de todos los ciudadanos favoreciendo la igualdad de oportunidades en el acceso y la permanencia de los alumnos en el sistema educativo, evitando el abandono de los estudios postobligatorios por motivos económicos. A pesar de ser un servicio centralizado que depende del Ministerio de Educación, Cultura y Deporte, las comunidades autónomas realizan importantes aportaciones económicas para paliar las carencias existentes, pero esto no hace más que aumentar las diferencias entre los alumnos. Añadido esto a un sistema de becas en el que no se tienen en cuenta sólo las necesidades económicas sino que se condicionan las ayudas al expediente académico de los alumnos.
ABSTRACT: The system of scholarships and grants is to ensure the right to education of all citizens by promoting equal opportunities in access and retention of students in the educational system, avoiding the abandonment of further education for economic reasons. Despite being a centralized service that depends on the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, the autonomous communities make significant financial contributions to alleviate existing deficiencies, but this does nothing but increase the differences between students. Added this to a scholarship system in which only the economic needs are not taken into account but that aid to education depends on academics records of students.
