¿Es el modelo de Educate Together una alternativa real al monopolio de la Educación Católica en Irlanda?

Abstract

RESUMEN En el presente Trabajo Fin de Grado se expone un estudio sobre el movimiento de escuelas irlandés llamado Educate Together. Una red de escuelas que nació para dar respuesta a todas las familias que querían separar la instrucción católica de la educación primaria de sus hijos. Primeramente, se lleva a cabo una revisión teórica acerca de Educate Together, su origen, sus características, el matiz que les hace diferentes del resto de escuelas católicas de Irlanda, sus valores y su Curriculum Ético "Learn Together Curriculum". A posteriori, se lleva a cabo un análisis de la puesta en marcha de todas las políticas, gracias a la experiencia adquirida durante los tres meses de prácticas que la autora realizó en uno de los colegios adscritos al movimiento, Knocknacarra Educate Together National School. Para finalizar se realiza un análisis y crítica de la relación histórica que mantiene la Iglesia Católica con el sistema educativo en Irlanda.

ABSTRACT In this final thesis a study of the Irish school movement Educate Together will be exposed. It consists on a school network created as an answer for all the families who looked for separating the Catholic education from the primary education of their children. Firstly, a theoretical analysis about Educate Together will be presented: its origins, its characteristics, the hint that makes them different from other Catholic schools in Ireland, the values and its code of ethics “Learn Together Curriculum”. Secondly, an evaluation of the implementation of these politics will be introduced, based on the experience gained at one of the schools involved in the movement, Knocknacarra Educate Together National School. Finally, a critical analysis/review will be exposed on the historical relationship between the Catholic Church and the Irish education system, based on the resulting evaluation of the previous thesis section.
