Literatura infantil y bilingüismo en Cantabria : Lecturas y bibliotecas

Abstract

RESUMEN: La progresiva importancia de una educación multilingüe ha llevado a la Consejería de Educación de Cantabria a desarrollar una serie de proyectos que se llevan a cabo en los centros educativos en la región. Sin embargo, estos planteamientos muchas veces tienen por objetivo un uso de la L2 muy divergente del uso que de la L1 están haciendo los niños en cada momento de su vida. En este trabajo planteamos un análisis cualitativo de la situación de las bibliotecas en cuanto a fondos en inglés en aquellos centros que tienen implantados Programas de Educación Bilingüe en Primaria (inglés). Para ello encuestamos a profesores, personas responsables del propio plan, alumnos de prácticas y padres. El estudio deja ver el lugar precario que ocupa la lectura en estos planes y la necesidad que existe en Cantabria de aunar esfuerzos para conseguir que las competencias lectoras y escritoras se trabajen indistintamente en los dos idiomas.

ABSTRACT: The “Consejería de Educación” in Cantabria has developed several projects in the schools considering the progressive importance that multilingualism education has taken in society. However, these policies with the goal of using L2 are often very different that what children are doing at the moment in their own mother tongue.In this paper, we array a quantitative analysis about the situation of school libraries and the books in English that are held at those centers that belong to the Bilingual Education Plan. We take into consideration various surveys to teachers, the people that design the plan, students and parents. This study lets us see the precarious nature of reading in this project and reflects the need we have in Cantabria to combine the efforts of L1 and L2 in order to improve reading and literary competence in both languages for our children.
