Resumen/Abstract
Recycling, one of the possible final destinations for plastic packaging, has experienced a sharp increase in recent years. A company, dedicated to the sorting of plastic packaging containers, is considering carrying out a technical study to increase its activity with the possible implementation of a plastics recycling plant. The polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is the selected polymer to recycle due to the fact that this plastic material is the most common one found in packaging waste and an increase in demand for this polymer is predicted. The mechanical process will be chosen to recycle PET in the present study, as this kind of process requires less investment and the final product accomplishes the requirements in most of the applications including recycled PET, which are fiber and sheets. The overall goal of this project is the definition of the manufacturing process. For this purpose, specific objectives such as market research to test the real possibilities of implementing the plant, the analysis of aspects of product marketing and evaluation of the main project costs must be met. The company which will address the study is a Special Employment Centre, so the description of human resources policies is a key target.
