Arte y sociedad: evolución de la moda cortesana en el reinado de Felipe IV. Indumentaria de reinas e infantas

Abstract

RESUMEN: Dentro del estudio histórico-artístico podemos contemplar una gran diversidad de temáticas auxiliares, siendo la moda una de éstas y, dentro de ella, la indumentaria cortesana propia de reinas e infantas. Dado que la moda se desarrolla en función del contexto, se trata de una cuestión propia del análisis histórico. La preocupación del rey por la indumentaria marca la evolución de la moda en sus territorios. Se debe entender este desvelo en el contexto de las relaciones políticas, morales y propagandísticas del poder, motivo por el cual Felipe IV, como sus predecesores, se sirvió de las leyes suntuarias para su regulación. Se genera así una simbiosis entre las diversas materias, que se complementan entre sí, permitiendo un análisis detallado de la cuestión del traje español y aquellos otros estudios que, a su vez, favorecen la comprensión de la realidad social y material de una época.

ABSTRACT: Art is a basic source of information in the study of historical matters. In the Spanish Golden Age, the paintings were a reflection of the current situation and, therefore, to provide a better understanding about all of this, it is possible to use costumes in order to ease this task. The aim of this project is to prove that fashion and its developing element, which it´s known thanks to the pictures is essential as a supporting material in historic and artistic knowledge. The development of costume is linked to a variety of elements, such as: society, economy, law, literature, among others. All these areas are tied with fashion. It can be stated that all these areas, despite of tackle different topics, are closely complemented each other at the moment of the study within the environment of auxiliary elements for history and art history. Fashion studies are relatively recent and, therefore, cautious must be taken when starting a new one.
