Resumen/Abstract
ABSTRACT: The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the different discourses throughout the Age of Imperialism (1875-1914) legitimized and justified the conquest and colonization policies supported by European states in Africa, Asia and Oceania. Discourses which can be vertebrates in three main areas: first, the development of racist doctrines. Second, the craving for the prestige of each of the powers and emerging nationalisms which will work a key role. Finally, the civilizing mission that European powers "were able” but also “should" be carried out in the colonies.
