La música histórica en Cantabria : fondos documentales (siglos XI-XIX)

Abstract

RESUMEN: La Tesis doctoral reúne y analiza los testimonios musicales que se conservan en Cantabria de los siglos XI al XIX. Se centra en el estudio y la elaboración de catálogos de los diferentes documentos de música religiosa localizados en los archivos y bibliotecas públicas, privadas, religiosas y civiles de la región. La metodología aplicada es interdisciplinar dada la variedad de documentos estudiados. La tesis se articula en ocho capítulos, los cuatro primeros corresponden al estudio de: fragmentos de códices musicales (siglos XI-XVI); cantorales de la catedral de Santander: del canto gregoriano al canto medido (siglos XVI-XIX); capilla de música de la Catedral de Santander (1756-1900) y fuentes iconográficas musicales en la arquitectura románica en Cantabria (siglos XI-XIII). Los cuatro últimos están dedicados a los catálogos de cada uno de los capítulos anteriores. Como conclusión podemos afirmar que Cantabria posee testimonios musicales relevantes desde la Edad Media hasta la actualidad.

ABSTRACT: The doctoral thesis collects and analyzes the musical testimonies that are conserved in Cantabria from the eleventh to the nineteenth centuries. It focuses on the study and creation of catalogues of different documents about religious music located in the archives and public, private, civil and religious libraries in the region. The methodology used is interdisciplinary given the variety of documents studied. The thesis is divided into eight chapters, the first four corresponding to the study of: fragments of musical manuscripts (XI-XVI centuries); choir hymnals in the Cathedral of Santander: from Gregorian chant to the measured singing (XVI-XIX centuries); music chapel of the Cathedral of Santander (1756-1900) and music in iconographic sources in the Romanesque architecture in Cantabria (XI-XIII centuries). The last four are dedicated to the catalogues of each of the previous chapters. In conclusion we can say that Cantabria has relevant musical evidence from the Middle Ages to the present.
