Análisis del sistema financiero de Reino Unido

Abstract

RESUMEN: El sistema financiero de Reino Unido es considerado uno de los más relevantes para el funcionamiento global de los mercados de valores. Aportando su amplia experiencia financiera, este país es líder en sectores como el mercado de divisas o el mercado de renta variable. En este proyecto se analiza la evolución del sistema financiero británico en la última década, comparándolo en muchos casos con otros países de la Unión Europea y evaluando también su cuota de mercado a nivel global. El estudio proporciona conocimiento acerca de un amplio abanico de características del sistema financiero británico. En primer lugar, se estudian la situación económica de Reino Unido, analizando indicadores como el PIB, la inflación, el empleo, u otros referentes al sector público y al comercio exterior. A continuación, se da paso a la evaluación del sistema financiero en sí, empezando por un análisis del tamaño, la orientación, y los principales agentes que interactúan en él. Se continúa con el análisis de los mercados financieros, describiendo los principales y estudiando algunos índices representativos de los mismos para ver su evolución tanto nacional como a nivel mundial. Se describen también los diferentes tipos de instituciones financieras. Se explican las características del sistema regulatorio y de supervisión del sistema financiero en su conjunto, además de analizar indicadores de competencia y concentración del mismo. Además, se detallan los sistemas de pagos más utilizados, aportando datos del movimiento real de dinero a través de ellos. También se evalúan indicadores de estabilidad financiera para analizar la capacidad de afrontar riesgos potenciales. Finalmente, se da paso a las conclusiones extraídas de la evaluación y el estudio del sistema financiero británico

ABSTRACT: The financial system of United Kingdom is considered one of the most relevant for the global financial markets performance. Providing its wide financial experience, this country is leader in some financial sectors such as the foreign exchange market or the equity market. In this research, it is evaluated the evolution of the British financial system during the last decade, comparing it, in many cases, with other countries in the European Union, and examining its market share globally. The study shows a wide amount of economic characteristics of the British financial system. Firstly, the economic situation of United Kingdom are studied, analysing indicators such as the GDP, the inflation, the employment, and other related to the public sector and the foreign trade. Then, the financial system itself is evaluated, beginning with the analysis of its size, its orientation and the main agents that interact within it. After that, it follows the analysis of the financial markets, describing the main ones and studying some indicators that represents them to see either their national and international evolution. Different types of financial institutions are also described. The regulatory and supervisory system of the all financial system are explained, in addition to analyse competence and concentration indicators. Furthermore, the most used payments methods are detailed, providing data about the real movement of money within them. Moreover, financial indicators are evaluated to analyse the capacity to overcome potential risks. Finally, the conclusions have been drawn up based on the study and evaluation of the financial system of United Kingdom.
