Smart cities para el desarrollo económico y social a través de las TIC

Abstract

RESUMEN: Hoy en día la mayor parte de la población mundial vive en ciudades, y estas están en constante evolución. Los entornos urbanos se han vuelto mas densos y complejos, y las ciudades enfrentan problemas en diferentes ámbitos, como la movilidad, la eficiencia energética, los recursos ambientales, entre otros. Debido a esto y a la necesidad de mejorar la calidad de vida, se ha introducido el concepto de Smart City para lograr el desarrollo adaptado a la nueva era digital. El objetivo de una ciudad inteligente o Smart City es integrar las tecnologías de la información y comunicación (TIC) con la infraestructura tradicional y un entorno colaborativo de los ciudadanos, haciendo uso de los recursos de una forma sostenible y óptima. El desarrollo de una ciudad inteligente se enfoca principalmente en los problemas más críticos de una ciudad, y se definen seis componentes: economía, movilidad, medio ambiente y energía, personas, vida y gobierno. Las ciudades más desarrolladas del mundo apuntan a ser ciudades inteligentes. El principal objetivo es invertir no sólo en infraestructura, sino en tecnología, aprovechando tecnologías como el Internet de las cosas, y lograr colaboración entre la población e impulsar la innovación para crear nuevas soluciones para aprovechar los recursos y aumentar las condiciones de vida de cada ciudadano. La finalidad de este trabajo es conocer el concepto, alcance, rendimiento e impacto del desarrollo de las ciudades inteligentes. Se abordarán temas de desarrollo tecnológico, social y económico tanto en la ciudad como en la respuesta de la población afectada. Se expondrán los servicios actuales y algunas de las tecnologías usadas. Se analizaran algunas de las ciudades inteligentes en desarrollo, y cuales son los principales servicios y aplicaciones que han funcionado y se siguen implementando en los nuevos proyectos. Asimismo se destacarán cuales son los trabajos futuros en lo que respecta a las ciudades inteligentes.

ABSTRACT: Nowadays, most of the world's population lives in cities, and these are constantly evolving. Urban environments have become more dense and complex, and the cities face problems in different areas, such as mobility, energy efficiency, environmental resources, and others. For this reason, and the necessity to improve the quality of life, it has introduced the concept of Smart City for development adapted to the new digital era. The main goal of a Smart City is to integrate the information and communication technology (ICT) with the traditional infrastructure and a collaborative environment of inhabitants, using optimally and sustainably the resources. The development of a smart city is focused on the most critical problems of a city, and defined six components: economy, mobility, environment and energy, people, life and government. The most developed cities in the world aim to be Smart Cities. The main objective is to invest not only in infrastructure, but in technology, taking advantage of technologies like the Internet of things, and achieve cooperation between the population and encourage innovation to create new solutions to leverage resources and enhance the lives of every citizen. The purpose of this work is to understand the concept, scope, performance and impact of the development of smart cities. It not only will address topics related to technological, social and economic development in the city, but also, in the response of the affected population. This investigation will analyze few developing smart cities. Also, which are the main services and applications that have been successful and are being implemented in new projects.
