Gentes y territorios en el limes novohispano: el dinamismo de la frontera en el siglo XVIII

Abstract

ABSTRACT: This paper aims to study an enormously complex territory to manage as it was the northern border New Spain’s Viceroyalty throughout the modern period, and societies were formed in this Spanish colonial area, specifically analyzing the Eighteenth Century. To do this, it will be vital to understand the complex workings of border relations, formed by a welter of different indigenous groups living together, varying degrees of acceptance and integration with the political, social and religious scaffold implanted in the region by the Spanish monarchy. The relationships and conflicts between the different human groups neighboring were taken to establish a genesis border therefore the armed conflicts as indigenous participation in the imperial machinery; and such a range of situations, there was room for a compendium of human relations, from religious conversion and common trade to slavery and the presence of foreign countries.
