La Reconversión Industrial en la Cuenca del Besaya. El impacto socioeconómico y electoral de la crisis industrial (1980-1987)

Abstract

RESUMEN A raíz de la apertura de la economía durante el franquismo y de las posteriores crisis del petróleo, se fue haciendo más que evidente la necesidad de las medidas de reconversión industrial llevadas a cabo en el seno de las empresas del gran aparato industrial de la cuenca del Besaya, constituido desde finales del siglo XIX hasta mediados del siglo XX. La reconversión industrial de los años ochenta trajo consigo grandes cambios; en el ámbito económico, en el ámbito social y en el ámbito político local; cambios que significaron la transformación profunda de un territorio que fue durante mucho tiempo el corazón industrial de Cantabria.

ABSTRACT From the opening of the economy during the Franco´s government and the subsequent oil crisis, it became more evident the need for the industrial restructuring measures implemented in the companies of the Besaya´s industrial zone, built from the late nineteenth to mid-twentieh-century. The eighties industrial restructuring brought great changes; in the economical and in the social aspects and in the local political arena; that changes developped the major transformation of a territory that has been the most important industrial area of Cantabria
