Un estudio de la representación social del maltrato infantil a través de los medios de comunicación

Abstract

RESUMEN El trabajo que se presenta a continuación trata de analizar el fenómeno de la representación social del maltrato infantil. Se aborda el rol de los medios de comunicación como constructores de dicha representación social y en concreto, se analiza si la información que divulgan los medios se adecúa a la realidad del fenómeno de los malos tratos o, por el contrario, contiene información falsa que contribuye a distorsionar el fenómeno. Mientras que en la primera parte del trabajo pretendemos aproximarnos de forma teórica al fenómeno de las representaciones sociales y en concreto al de la representación social del maltrato infantil, en la segunda parte se analizará la información que transmiten los medios de comunicación escrita sobre el tema.

ABSTRACT This dissertation aims at analyzing the social representation of child abuse. The role that the media plays in the construction of this social representation is thoroughly addressed, and more specifically, its purpose is to ascertain if the information that they broadcast concerning child abuse offers a realistic view on the subject, or if, on the contrary, it contains false beliefs that contribute to distort it. Whereas in the first part of this dissertation we give an insight into social representations, our goal being to deepen into the social representation of child abuse, in the second part we will analyze the information that print media provides about the topic.
