Una tardía crítica al Derecho Romano: la Sátira del cubano Prudencio Hechavarría O'Gavan (1819-1828)

Abstract

RESUMEN: La reforma de los estudios de derecho avanzó en España con más dificultad que en otros países europeos. Como muestra el texto analizado en esta nota, la crítica ilustrada del siglo XVIII contra la enseñanza tradicional, basada exclusivamente en el derecho romano y en las doctrinas y autores con él relacionados, aún no había alcanzado plenamente su objetivo a comienzos del siglo XIX.

ABSTRACT: The reform of legal education had advanced more slowly in Spain than in other European countries. The Sátira analysed in our text shows that the goal of the Enlightenment’s criticism against the traditional teaching of law, whose exclusive foundations were Roman Law as well as theories and writers related with it, is not yet wholly reached at the start of the nineteenth century.
