La Interculturalidad en el medio rural: ¿Espejismo o realidad?. Estudio de caso

Abstract

RESUMEN:Hoy en día, sin lugar a dudas, nos vemos inmersos en una sociedad en la que la diversidad cultural es cada vez más frecuente, por lo tanto, una consecuencia directa es su repercusión en los centros escolares. Este fenómeno se ha extendido por todo nuestro país, llegando a hacerse notable en los contextos más rurales. De ahí que el motivo y diseño de nuestra investigación esté enfocado a conocer el trabajo que existe, en cuanto a materia de interculturalidad en el medio rural, así como la formación existente entre sus docentes para dar respuesta ante esta diversidad cada vez más frecuente en este ámbito. Para ello, hemos presentado el estudio de un caso descriptivo en el C.E.I.P El Castañal y el Colegio Stma. Virgen de Valvanuz de Selaya (Cantabria), partiendo de un enfoque cualitativo, en el cual hemos empleado como estrategia metodológica la entrevista en profundidad y la observación directa. Finalmente, los resultados obtenidos nos revelan una realidad que en cierta manera esperábamos y es que los docentes, y en general, los centros rurales no aplican la interculturalidad por sistema. Además, también comprobamos que la formación del profesorado necesaria para enfrentarse a esta realidad es todavía muy escasa, propiciando que sus estrategias de actuación sean limitadas.

ABSTRACT: Nowadays, it is known that we are living in a society where cultural diversity is more and more frequent, thus a direct consequence of that it is its impact on schools. This phenomenon has expanded all around our country, and now we can also notice it in rural settings. Therefore, the aim and the approach of our research is focused on knowing the present studies in the field of interculturality in a rural setting as well as the training available for teachers in order to be able to deal with this increasingly diversity in this specific area. In order to do that, we have presented the study of a descriptive case in two different establishments, C.E.I.P El Castañal and Colegio Stma Virgen de Valvanuz, both located in Selaya (Cantabria). We have chosen a qualitative approach, using a methodological strategy based on a profound interview and on a direct analysis. Finally, the results of our study have revealed us a reality that we actually expected to a certain extent, that is that teachers and in general terms rural schools do not apply the interculturality systematically. Besides, we have also proved that the required training for teachers to face this reality is insufficient, so that action strategies are still limited.
