The main objective of this project is the development of renewable energy for supplying the energy necessary to the demand of electricity of all electric devices in a cottage in the way that it was isolated from the grid. The renewable energy that is going to be used is the Wind Power and it will cover all the necessities of the cottage.
This thesis is made with the idea of designing a wind power installation capable to cover the demand of electric energy of a cottage (household) where there is not possibility of connexion to the grid because of its location. All the equipment necessary for the installation will be chosen for this particular case.
There will be three different parts on this thesis:
The first part will treat about the fundamentals and theory about wind power, wind resource, wind turbines and wind generation.
The second part will be focused in the calculation of the consumption of the house, the calculations about the wind in the area and the power of the wind turbine investigated in the thesis.
The last one will be based on the choice of the proper wind turbine, with all that that entails, the economic analysis and the conclusions of the project.
This project is conceptual, but the design which will be described in the document could be intended to be carried out in real life.
