Historia de la interculturalidad en España. Aplicación actual en las escuelas

Abstract

RESUMEN: Hoy en día la interculturalidad forma parte de nuestra sociedad, y por lo tanto de nuestra escuela también. Pero, ¿cómo hemos llegado a formar parte de esta sociedad intercultural? El propósito de este trabajo es investigar esta cuestión desde una visión general a nivel estatal, hasta una visión concreta y personal de una coordinadora de interculturalidad de un colegio público. A través de la historia de España, se han investigado los movimientos migratorios, los cambios económicos y fluctuaciones legislativas referentes a la inmigración, que han sucedido durante las últimas décadas. Además, se ha analizado el Plan de Interculturalidad de Cantabria y las funciones del coordinador. Todo esto ha tomado contacto con la realidad, mediante una entrevista, y póstuma reflexión, a una coordinadora de interculturalidad de un colegio público de enseñanza infantil y primaria de Santander. En dicha entrevista se han obtenido respuestas acerca de cómo ve la coordinadora la situación de la educación intercultural en su escuela, cómo se organizan, y los consejos que nos ofrece. Finalmente se ha llegado a la conclusión de que la interculturalidad es el presente, y que el futuro es aprender a convivir en paz como seres humanos.

ABSTRACT: Nowadays, interculturality is part of our society, and therefore of our schools too. But, how did we get to be involved in this intercultural society? The purpose of this paper is to look into this issue from a statewide general overview, to the concrete and personal vision of an Interculturality coordinator of a public school. Throughout the history of Spain, phenomena such as migratory movements, economic changes and legislative fluctuations relating to immigration, which happened during the last decades, have been investigated. In addition, the Intercultural Plan of Cantabria and the functions of the Interculturality coordinator have been analyzed. All this has been contrasted with reality through an interview, and a later reflection, to the Interculturality coordinator of a public Elementary school located in Santander. In the interview, answers regarding how the coordinator sees the situation of intercultural education in her school, how they are organized, and the advice she offers to future teachers and coordinators were obtained. Finally, the reflection on the interview and the literature review together have lead on to the conclusion that Interculturality is the present, and the future would be learning to live together in peace as human beings.
