RESUMEN: El «secuestro internacional de menores» se ha convertido en un fenómeno social
globalizado. Desde hace décadas diversas organizaciones internacionales y regionales vienen prestando
un especial interés en atajar dicho problema, no solo elaborando instrumentos internacionales sino fomentando
también el recurso a un concreto ADR: la mediación, como mecanismo idóneo para solventar
este tipo de conflictos familiares internacionales. En este contexto, en que ante todo ha de primar la protección
del «interés superior del menor», destaca el papel desempeñado por la Conferencia de La Haya
y los importantes avances que dicho organismo, junto con el esfuerzo de otras organizaciones estatales
no gubernamentales, está alcanzado en la configuración de la mediación familiar internacional como
complemento idóneo al Convenio de La Haya de 25 de octubre de 1980.
ABSTRACT: The “International Child Abduction” has become a global social phenomenon. Some
time ago various international and regional organizations have been providing a special interest in tackling
this problem, not only developing international conventions but also promoting recourse to a
particular ADR: mediation, as a suitable mechanism to solve this type of international family disputes.
In this context, in which first of all must prioritize the protection of the “best interests of the child ‘,
highlights the role of the The Hague Conference and the significant progress that body, together with the
efforts of other state NGOs is reached in shaping international family mediation as an ideal complement
to the Hague Convention of 25 October 1980.
