El Trastorno por Déficit de Atención con Hiperactividad, una realidad en las aulas.

Abstract

RESUMEN: En el presente trabajo se aborda uno de los trastornos más estudiados y polémicos en estas últimas décadas, el Trastorno por Déficit de Atención con Hiperactividad (TDAH). Primeramente se presentará una revisión bibliográfica sobre la definición y las características de este trastorno, basándonos en los criterios del DSM-IV. También se mencionarán brevemente los cambios que vamos a ver próximamente en el DSM-V. Pasaremos después a su comorbilidad con otros trastornos y problemas de índole social y académica. También se hablará de su prevalencia en cuanto a género y geografía, no olvidándonos de su gran trascendencia a nivel comunitario, y resaltando la importancia de la colaboración entre centros educativos, atención primaria y asociaciones. Todo esto dará paso a la explicación del proceso de diagnóstico para este trastorno, para continuar más tarde con las medidas de intervención que se suelen llevar a cabo en la atención primaria, en los centros educativos y en la familia. Por último, y como futura docente, se propondrán una serie de medidas de intervención innovadoras, que podrán ser tenidas en cuenta para el tratamiento del TDAH en las aulas.

ABSTRACT: In the present paper, we deal with one of the most studied and polemical disorders over the last decades, the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). First, I will introduce a bibliographic review about the definition and characteristics of this disorder, based on DSM-IV. I will also mention briefly the changes we going to see shortly in the DSM-V. Then I will pass to explain comorbidity with other disorders and problems of social and academic nature. I will also discuss their prevalence in terms of gender and geography, not forgetting their great importance in the community, and highlighting the importance of collaboration between schools, medical centers and associations. All this will give way to an explanation of process of diagnosis for this disorder, to continue later with the intervention measures that are usually carried on primary health care, at schools and in the family. Finally, and as a future teacher, I will propose a set of innovative intervention measures which may be taken into account for the treatment of ADHD in the classroom.
