T: The objective of the present project is the development of a plastic material for use in baby food packaging, with the same features as the glass jars that are used nowadays. To achieve this change of material, the container must satisfy a number of technical and functional characteristics that allow the replacement of the glass product. The most important features are: - Low oxygen permeability that allows the packaged product a shelf life of at least two years - Processability in conventional equipment of blown molding extrusion process. This project has three main actions: -Selection of the materials that will form part of the final package. To do this, it is necessary to calculate the design oxygen transfer requirements, as long as to consider the processability properties related to: i) the manufacture of the plastic container using blow molding technology and ii) the processability of the food packaging process by the baby food producer. Those processes must be carried at standard conditions. - Development and characterization of a multilayer polymer-based structure baby food container with high barrier properties to gas and thermal resistance (sterilization process), which accomplishes standard storage conditions. - Evaluation of nanoclays particles to improve the barrier effect to gases in matrixes of ethyl vinyl alcohol (EVOH).es_ES
