Resumen: Numerosas investigaciones han puesto de manifiesto el papel importante que juega la adquisición de la conservación de la longitud en el aprendizaje de ésta y otras medidas geométricas. Nos planteamos estudiar en qué medida tienen los alumnos de 4 y 6 de primaria de dos colegios de Cantabria adquirida la conservación de la longitud. Además, pretendemos estudiar las estrategias que utilizan al resolver cuestiones relacionadas con la conservación de la longitud. Como conclusiones observamos que la conservación de la longitud no está completamente adquirida incluso en edades tardías. Observamos también que en cursos superiores se van abandonando estrategias más rudimentarias basadas en conteo, dando paso a otras de carácter más visual.
Abstract: Numerous investigations have shown the importance of the acquisition of length conservation in the learning of this measurement itself and in the learning of other geometrical measurements. We carry out this study with students from 4th and 6th grade of Primary Education from Cantabria in order to see how much they have acquired the length conservation. We also aim to study which strategies they use when solving tasks concerning length conservation. As a conclusion, we have observed that length conservation is not totally acquired even at the latest ages. We have also observed that in higher grades, students are letting behind some rudimentary strategies based on counting, and they are replacing them by others which might be more visual.
