Abstract

Resumen: Tras la Constitución de 1876 comenzó un intenso proceso de revisión historiográfica que cuestionaba en un sentido conservador las interpretaciones liberales sobre la Historia de España de la etapa precedente. Las obras de Martínez de Velasco y Sáenz Baquero sobre las Comunidades de Castilla revisaron en profundidad su carácter de supuesta revolución liberal defendido por Ferrer del Río y Modesto Lafuente. Aunque formalmente siguen hablando de revolución, ésta más bien adopta una naturaleza conservadora. Este cambio inspirará la historiografía posterior.

Abstract: With the Constitution of 1876 there was a intense historiography renovation which, with a conservative viewpoint, put to a test all the liberal perspectives on the History of Spain which were produced just in the previous period. Martinez de Velasco y Sáenz Baquero opinion s on the War of the Communities of Castile meant a conservative answer to the idea of the event as a liberal revolution, which outburst from Ferrer del Río and Modesto Lafuente analysis. Despite formally those conservative authors still used the word revolution to speak on the War of the Castilian Communities, even that word meant for them a conservative event. This change of focus on that important historical episode had a deep effect on the whole conservative historiography afterwards.
