La etnografía como modelo de investigación en educación

Abstract

RESUMEN: En el texto se delimitan las bases de la etnografía como modelo de investigación en educación. Para ello se revisa el concepto de etnografía y los fundamentos de la misma (su finalidad, sus características y el papel del etnógrafo), se hace un recorrido por las principales etapas que configuran el proceso etnográfico (negociación y acceso al campo, trabajo de campo, análisis de datos y elaboración del informe), se analizan las principales perspectivas en etnografía educativa (etnografía holística, antropología cognitiva, etnografía de la comunicación e interaccionismo simbólico) y se plantea cómo es posible asegurar la credibilidad de los datos etnográficos (a través de la contextualización, la saturación, la negociación con los implicados y la triangulación).

ABSTRACT: In the text, the basis of ethnography are defined as a model of research in education. For this, the concept and foundations of ethnography are reviewed (its purpose, characteristics and the ethnographer’s role), the main parts of the ethnographical process are examined (negotiation and access to the field, field work, analysis of data, and drawing up the report), the main prospects in educational ethnography are analysed (holistic ethnography, cognitive anthropology, ethnography of communication, and symbolic interactionism), and how it is possible to ensure the credibility of the ethnographical data is questioned (by means contexualization, saturation, negotiation with those involved, and triangulation).
