La gestión de la muerte y el duelo en Educación Infantil: prevención e intervención educativa

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo destacar la relevancia que el tratamiento de la muerte y la comprensión de las emociones ligadas al duelo tiene para los infantes de Educación Infantil. La muerte es un hecho muy presente en nuestra sociedad, aunque culturalmente es tratada como un tema tabú. Las criaturas perciben la muerte y vivencian las emociones relativas a la pérdida, por lo que requieren del apoyo y guía de los adultos para favorecer su comprensión. Por este motivo, es importante que las docentes nos formemos sobre esta temática, lo que nos permitirá desarrollar e implementar intervenciones preventivas y paliativas que favorecerán el desarrollo integral del alumnado. En este Trabajo de Fin de Grado, ahondaremos en la literatura científica para entender cómo la infancia comprende el concepto de muerte y los tipos de duelo que pueden vivenciar, conocer las principales estrategias y programas existentes y presentar una propuesta de intervención en el aula dirigida a favorecer la comprensión de la muerte y la autorregulación emocional para el desarrollo de duelos no patológicos.

The aim of this paper is to highlight the relevance that the treatment of death and the understanding of the emotions linked to grief has for infants in the Early Childhood Education. Death is a very present fact in our society, although culturally it is treated as a taboo subject. Children perceive death and experience the emotions related to loss, which is why they need the support and guidance of adults to help them understand it. For this reason, it is important for teachers to be trained in this subject, which will allow us to develop and implement preventive and palliative interventions that will favour the comprehensive development of pupils. In this Final Degree Project, we will delve into the scientific literature to understand how children understand the concept of death and the types of grief they may experience, to learn about the main existing strategies and programmes and to present a proposal for classroom intervention aimed at promoting the understanding of death and emotional self-regulation for the development of non-pathological grief.
