La nación ante el estallido de la «Gloriosa» revolución en los textos del satírico-político

Abstract

Este artículo ofrece una aproximación al imaginario de nación contenido en el material textual de una de las cabeceras más señeras del periodismo satírico-político decimonónico español, el "Gil Blas" (Madrid, 1864-1872), ante el estallido de la Revolución de 1868 y primeros meses del Sexenio Democrático. A partir de su contenido literario y periodístico, se analiza cómo el periódico de carácter republicano significa la «nación», en tanto que sistema de significación cultural y sujeto político y movilizador. Para ello, el estudio considera la comunidad que la compone, la memoria colectiva de esta y los males y enemigos que la afrentan; elementos que fundamentan la articulación y legitimización de su discurso y sus mecanismos de identificación.

This article offers an approximation to the imaginary of the nation contained in the texts of one of the most outstanding journals of nineteenth-century Spanish satirical journalism, "Gil Blas" (Madrid, 1864-1872), at the outbreak of the Glorious Revolution of 1868 and the first months of the Democratic Sexenio. From its literary and journalistic content, it is analyzed how the republican newspaper means the «nation», as system of cultural significance and political and mobilizing actor. To that end, the study considers the community that composes it, its collective memory and the evils and enemies that affront it; elements that support the articulation and legitimization of his discourse and its identification mechanisms.
