Análisis económico y financiero del sector hotelero en el Norte de España

Abstract

El objetivo de este trabajo trata de realizar un estudio económico y financiero sobre el sector turístico español, más concretamente del sector hotelero en cuatro comunidades autónomas: Cantabria, Asturias, País Vasco y Galicia. Lo que se busca con este análisis es conocer la evolución y el peso que ha tenido el sector. El sector hotelero siempre ha sido uno de los más importantes para la economía en España, llegando a crear más de 2,5 millones de puestos de trabajo y manteniendo un PIB turístico muy elevado, pero entre las diferentes zonas geográficas del país siempre han existido grandes diferencias. Por ello se ha querido analizar la zona del norte de España, la cual tradicionalmente no contaba con un gran atractivo turístico, y actualmente es uno de los destinos más demandados por los turistas. De este modo, el análisis se ha calculado con una base de datos de cinco años, que comprenden desde el año 2019 al año 2023. Con esos datos se han calculado una serie de ratios utilizando una muestra de las respectivas comunidades del norte de España, muestra compuesta de 177 empresas que han sido extraídas del Sistema de Análisis de Balances Ibéricos (SABI). Todos los datos analizados serán pertenecientes a partidas contables del balance y cuenta de pérdidas y ganancias de cada empresa. A lo largo de todo el análisis se hace mucha referencia a la pandemia del COVID-19, la cual fue un gran factor de riesgo para este sector en el año 2020. Esta crisis sanitaria provocó un gran declive del sector turístico, el cual estaba en auge en ese momento. A pesar de ello, observaremos como el turismo se recuperó y llegó alcanzar los ingresos anteriores tras la pandemia. Como conclusión del trabajo, este análisis nos permitirá exponer toda la evolución que ha tenido este sector en el norte de España y todos los cambios que hace que este sector siga creciendo.

The objective of this work is to conduct an economic and financial study about the Spanish tourism sector, specifically about the hotel sector in four autonomous communities: Cantabria, Asturias, Basque Country and Galicia. This analysis aims to understand the evolution and importance that the sector. The hotel sector has always been one of the most important sectors in the economy of Spain, leading to the creation of more than 2.5 millions of employment positions and it maintained a high touristic GDP. Nonetheless, there have always been significant differences among the diverse geographic areas of the country. Therefore, this study was meant to analyze the north of Spain, which was not traditionally a major tourist attraction, and it is currently one of the most demanded destinations by tourists. Likewise, this analysis has been carried out using a database covering five years, which comprises data from 2019 to 2023. A series of ratios have been calculated using these data by making use of a sample of the corresponding autonomous communities in the north of Spain. This sample is composed of 177 enterprises that have been extracted from the Iberian Balance Analysis System (SABI). All the analyzed data will belong to accounting entries of the balance sheet and from the profit and loss statement of each enterprise. The COVID-19 pandemic, which was a great risk factor for this sector during the year 2020, will be highly mentioned throughout the analysis. This health crisis provoked a sharp decline of the tourism sector, which was booming during that time. Notwithstanding, we will observe how the tourism sector recovered and got to reach the previous revenues after the pandemic. In conclusion of this work, this analysis will allow us to present all the evolution that this sector has had in the north of Spain and all the changes that make it keep growing.
