Abstract

Este estudio analiza el uso de anglicismos y neologismos en el chat de Twitch, con el objetivo de comprender cómo los usuarios hispanohablantes incorporan, adaptan y resignifican préstamos lingüísticos en un entorno marcado por la inmediatez y la interacción en tiempo real. Desde un enfoque cualitativo y pragmalingüístico, se observan los mecanismos de adaptación morfológica y semántica y las funciones comunicativas de estos términos. Los resultados muestran que los hablantes generan un léxico híbrido y creativo mediante abreviaciones, derivación verbal e integración discursiva. Estos usos cumplen funciones expresivas, identitarias y metacomunicativas, configurando una jerga compartida que refuerza la cohesión grupal. El trabajo aporta al estudio de la influencia del inglés en el español digital y sugiere futuras líneas de investigación sobre la evolución del idioma en internet.

This study examines the use of anglicisms and neologisms in Twitch chat, with the aim of understanding how Spanish-speaking users incorporate, adapt, and reframe linguistic borrowings within a digital environment shaped by immediacy and real-time interaction. The research adopts a qualitative approach grounded in pragmalinguistic analysis, which makes it possible to observe both the morphological and semantic adaptation mechanisms and the communicative and social functions of the terms. The findings show that users do not merely reproduce English words passively, but instead generate a hybrid and creative lexicon characterized by processes of abbreviation, verbal derivation, and discursive integration. These uses serve expressive, identity-building, and metacommunicative functions, configuring a shared jargon that reinforces group cohesion within the digital community. The study contributes to current research on language and technology by offering an updated analysis of the influence of English on Spanish in digital communication contexts and suggests future lines of inquiry into the role of these phenomena in the evolution of Spanish on the internet.
