Abstract

El presente Trabajo de Fin de Master aborda el estudio de las festividades castellanas, catalanas y portuguesas -agrupadas con el nombre de “nación española”- y sus gentes, que vivieron y tomaron lugar en la Roma papal del siglo XVII, en base a la obra ensayística del intelectual ecijano Juan de Valcárcel y Carrillo, quien representó escrita e iconográficamente la tradición festiva de la comunidad hispánica en la Roma de tiempos de Felipe III, con el objeto de apoyar otras investigaciones al respecto del ceremonial religioso y secular español en la Roma moderna.

The present Master Final Project approaches the study of Castilian, Catalan and Portuguese festivities -grouped by the name “nación española”- and their people, who lived and take place in the Papal Rome by 17th century, according to the essayistic work of the ecijan intellectual Juan de Valcárcel y Carrillo, who represented written and iconographically the festive tradition of Hispanic community in the Roma of Felipe III’s time, with the purpose of support another studies about religious and secular Spanish ceremonial in the modernist Rome.
