Artes pesqueras y aprovechamiento de recursos marítimos en las Cuatro Villas de la Costa de la Mar durante la Edad Media

Abstract

El análisis se centra en el estudio de la actividad pesquera en las Cuatro Villas de la Costa de la Mar durante la Edad Media, desde el análisis de las distintas técnicas de capturas, los tipos de pesca que se realizaban, las formas de conservar el pescado, su comercialización, como eran las infraestructuras portuarias, la estructura gremial que lo regía y el impacto social y cultural que supuso en el desarrollo de la vida cotidiana de esas sociedades. De todo esto se puede deducir la importancia del mar como el origen de los principales recursos y el eje articulador de la vida social y económica de estas villas.

The analysis focuses on the study of fishing activity in the Cuatro Villas de la Costa de la Mar during the Middle Ages, from the analysis of the different fishing techniques, the types of fishing carried out, the ways of preserving fish, its commercialisation, the port infrastructure, the guild structure that governed it, and the social and cultural impact it had on the development of daily life in these societies. From all this, we can deduce the importance of the sea as the source of the main resources and the backbone of the social and economic life of these towns.
