El llamamiento a la Primera Cruzada: motivaciones y bases ideológicas

Abstract

El presente trabajo tiene por objetivo el análisis de las distintas motivaciones que llevaron a los primeros cruzados a realizar el viaje hacia “Tierra Santa”. A lo largo de la investigación se tratará de valorar las diversas causas de la movilización para elaborar una hipótesis, y concluir si se trató de una decisión que atendía a una o varias razones. Veremos también cómo algunos alicientes que, a priori pudieran parecer obvios para el saber popular, caen en detrimento de otros factores algo más ocultos, pero que adquieren mayor importancia. Asimismo, comprobaremos el importante rol que la religión desempeñaba tanto en el ámbito político como en el social, empleándose como base de legitimaciones bélicas y condicionando la actuación de gran parte de la población laica

The present work aims to analyze the various motivations that led the first crusaders to undertake the journey to the Holy Land. Throughout the research, we will attempt to assess the various causes of their mobilization in order to develop a hypothesis and conclude whether the decision was based on one or more reasons. We will also examine how some incentives that, at first glance, might seem obvious to popular knowledge are overshadowed by other, somewhat more hidden but more important factors.We will also examine the important role that religion played in both the political and social spheres, serving as a basis for legitimizing war and influencing the actions of a large part of the secular population
