El presente Trabajo de fin de Grado trata de indagar en el desarrollo de las Provincias Unidas entre mediados del siglo XVI y 1648, el año del Tratado de Münster que ponía fin a la Guerra de los Ochenta Años entre la Monarquía Hispánica y la República Holandesa. Principalmente, se aborda la vertiente económica y comercial de esta última, sus amplias actividades mercantiles, así como las relaciones entre los distintos estados europeos del momento en base a su comercio. Además, se pretende analizar la situación prebélica de los Países Bajos antes de 1568, año del comienzo de la sublevación, con respecto al desarrollo político e institucional de las Provincias Unidas durante el siglo XVII.
The present Graduation Paper investigates the development of the United Provinces between the mid-16th century and 1648, the year of the Treaty of Münster which ended the Eighty Years' War between the Spanish Monarchy and the Dutch Republic. The main focus is on the economic and commercial aspects of the latter, its extensive trading activities and the relations between the various European states at the time based on their trade. In addition, it aims to analyse the pre-war situation of the Netherlands before 1568, the year of the start of the uprising, with regard to the political and institutional development of the United Provinces during the 17th century.
