Navegación y comercio en el Mediterráneo durante época romana: rutas, puertos y embarcaciones

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza la navegación y el transporte marítimo en época romana, centrándose en las rutas comerciales, las infraestructuras portuarias y las tipologías de embarcaciones. A través del estudio de fuentes primarias, evidencias arqueológicas y representaciones iconográficas, se examina como el mar Mediterráneo se convirtió en una red de interconexión vital para el comercio y la cohesión del Imperio. Se presta especial atención a los factores meteorológicos, la evolución tecnológica de la construcción naval y la diversidad funcional de las embarcaciones, evidenciando la sofisticación del sistema marítimo romano.

This work examines navigation and maritime transport in Roman times, focusing on trade routes, port infrastructures, and ship typologies. Using primary sources, archaeological evidence, and iconographic representations, the study explores how the Mediterranean Sea became a vital network for commerce and imperial cohesion. Particular attention is given to meteorological factors, the technological evolution of shipbuilding, and the functional diversity of vessels, highlighting the sophistication of the Roman maritime system.
