La cuestión agraria y los reformadores del final de la República romana: de los Graco a Julio César (134-44 a.C.)

Abstract

El presente trabajo se centra en la cuestión agraria durante el final de la República romana, en particular en el problema de la escasez de tierras, desde los Graco a la muerte de Julio César. Se analizan las causas de esta problemática y los principales actores políticos que intentaron resolverla mediante reformas legislativas. El estudio de estos reformadores nos llevará a examinar su legislación social en un sentido amplio, en el marco del conflicto político entre los populares y los optimates. Para profundizar en sus figuras y propuestas, se ha recurrido a una selección de textos antiguos.

This essay focuses on the agrarian question during the late Roman Republic, particularly the issue of land scarcity, from the time of the Gracchi to the death of Julius Caesar. It examines the causes of this problem and the main political figures who sought to address it through legislative reforms. The study of these reformers involves a broader analysis of their social legislation within the context of the political conflict between the populares and the optimates. To gain deeper insight into their figures and proposals, a selection of ancient texts has been consulted.
