La sociedad medieval peninsular estuvo marcada por la existencia, no siempre pacifica, de tres grandes religiones: Cristianismo, Islam y Judaísmo. A medida que las fronteras entre los reinos cristianos y reinos musulmanes evolucionaron, también lo hicieron las relaciones entre las distintas confesiones religiosas, imponiéndose la mayoría cristiana frente al resto de minorías. Este trabajo se enmarca en el siglo XIII, durante el reinado de Alfonso X “El Sabio” de Castilla, periodo en el que se generó una Edad Dorada del culto mariano y las relaciones entre cristianos y judíos sufrieron un gran deterioro. La abundante producción escrita patrocinada por Alfonso X prestó una importante atención a la comunidad judía como se evidencia, por ejemplo, en las obras legislativas. No obstante, nos interesa destacar una obra poética, Las Cantigas de Santa Maria, como pieza clave para conocer desde el punto de vista de las mentalidades sí la minoría judía estaba representada como un grupo marginal y excluido de la comunidad cristiana.
The medieval society of the Iberian Peninsula was marked by the existence, not always peaceful, of three major religions: Christianity, Islam, and Judaism. As the borders between Christian and Muslim kingdoms evolved, the relations between the different religious denominations did the same, with the Christian majority dominating the other minorities. This study is set in the 13th century, during the reign of Alfonso X ‘The Wise’ of Castile, a period that saw a Golden Age of Marian worship and a significant deterioration in the relations between Christians and Jews. Among the numerous writings sponsored by Alfonso X, which focused considerable attention on the Jewish community as proved for example, in legislative works. However, we would like to highlight a poetic piece, Las Cantigas de Santa Maria as a key work for understanding whether the Jewish minority is represented as a marginalised group excluded from the Christian community.
