Resumen/Abstract
This work presents the integration of a Ka-band satellite receiver system based on commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) components. The receiver consists of a low-noise amplifier, a band-pass filter, a sub-harmonic mixer, a frequency synthesizer and an Intermediate Frequency (IF) amplifier. The receiver frequency band is 27 – 30 GHz, being one of the bands allocated to Satcom communications for user link. The IF band is DC – 2.5 GHz, that is set by the operating range of the mixer. All selected COTS are bare die monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMIC), except the frequency synthesizer, which is comprised of a packaged MMIC. A custom-made chassis is designed to integrate the whole receiver. This demonstrator serves as a precursor to the integration of these components into a System-in-Package (SiP) module for evaluation in Space applications. The first goal of the developed system in a conventional format (chassis) is to characterize and validate the functionality of the COTS components as a Ka-band receiver. This approach goes beyond simply connecting these components; it involves carefully planning the structural design of the chassis in the smallest possible space.
