Cota inferior para la energía logarítmica en la esfera

Abstract

En esta memoria he trabajado sobre el séptimo problema propuesto por el matemático Steve Smale, centrándome en el cálculo de la cota inferior para la energía logarítmica de puntos esféricos. Para explicar detalladamente cómo se ha llegado a la mejor cota inferior conocida hasta el momento ampliando las ideas de [9] y escribiendo de forma que un lector promedio pueda entender el artículo sin problemas, he estudiado y presentado diversos conceptos (algunos ya vistos en el grado y otros muchos que no) que han sido útiles y necesarios a lo largo del trabajo. Finalmente, he introducido la función de Green en Sn, la cual es de suma importancia si se quiere extender dicha cota a Sn.

In this thesis, I have worked on the seventh problem proposed by mathematician Steve Smale, focusing on the calculation of the lower bound for the logarithmic energy of points on the sphere. In order to explain in detail how the best known lower bound has been obtained—by expanding on the ideas in [9] and writing in a way that an average reader can follow without difficulty—I have studied and presented various concepts (some already encountered during the degree, and many others new) that have been useful or necessary throughout the project. Finally, I have introduced the Green’s function on Sn, which is of great importance for extending this bound to the sphere Sn.
