El Consejo Real de Castilla y la autorización administrativa de impresión de libros en el siglo XVI

Abstract

La publicación de libros en la Edad Moderna implicaba un hecho tanto creativo como administrativo. Las obligaciones contenidas en la conocida Pragmática de 1558 no sólo alteraron la formalidad material del libro castellano, al obligar a insertar requisitos como la licencia, la fe de erratas, el privilegio, etc. Sino que tales paratextos son útiles para conocer el funcionamiento del organismo encargado de conceder la autorización administrativa de publicaciones, el Consejo Real de Castilla, así como para apreciar la definición de un ámbito meramente administrativo en la gestión pública, formalizado mediante la figura de la licencia. A su vez, con la mencionada Pragmática quedaba también sancionado un juego mediatorio que implicaba a oidores del Consejo, autores y editores, en adelante definitivamente instalado en el mundo de la creación. El conocimiento de toda esta serie de aspectos favorece la realización de estudios e investigaciones de carácter interdisciplinar, tocantes principalmente a la historia y la literatura.

The publication of books in Early Modern Times implied a cultural event to the same extent as administrative. The obligations contained in the well-known Pragmática of the year 1558 not only altered the material formality of the Castilian book, but that such Paratexts are useful to get to know the functioning of the institution responsible for granting the administrative authorisation of publications, the Royal Council of Castile, and also to define the appearance of a merely administrative field in the management of public affairs, formalized through the figure of the license. At the same time, with the Pragmática was also sanctioned a mediation network that implied to Council members, authors and publishers, which lasted on the world of creation. As we can see, appropriate network for conducting interdisciplinary research, that put into relationship history and literature.
