Corte, administración y territorio en la Edad Moderna: propuesta de análisis en el ámbito ibérico

Abstract

Este trabajo reflexiona sobre la proyección espacial de las decisiones gubernativas y jurisdiccionales en la Edad Moderna. El razonable cumplimiento de los mandatos en ambos órdenes no dejaba de ser llamativo en sistemas político-administrativos cuyos medios materiales eran limitados. Para comprender este hecho, se pretende examinar el proceso de integración y continuidad consumado entre el espacio restringido del monarca (la Cámara Real) y el territorio del reino, que cimentó todo un orden material y simbólico. En este proceso, circunscrito aquí a las monarquías ibéricas, con especial atención para la portuguesa, la importancia de la institución del Consejo fue crucial, como correa de transmisión a través de la que las decisiones tomadas en aquel ámbito restringido fueron implementadas en el espacio territorial. El fundamento de una visión así es la conciencia sobre la interacción entre el gobierno doméstico regio y el general en las monarquías modernas.

This work reflects on the spatial projection of governmental and jurisdictional decisions in the Modern Age. The reasonable fulfillment of the mandates in both orders was still striking in political-administrative systems which material means were limited. To understand this fact, it is intended to examine the process of integration and continuity between the restricted space of the king (the Royal Chamber) and the territory of the kingdom, which cemented a whole material and symbolic order. In this process, circumscribed here to the Iberian monarchies, with special attention for the Portuguese, the importance of the institution of the Council was crucial, as a transmission belt through which the decisions taken in that restricted area were implemented in the territorial space. The foundation of such a vision is the awareness of the interaction between the royal domestic government and the general in modern monarchies.
