La dificultad de incorporar progreso técnico en la industria cántabra

Abstract

RESUMEN: La industria cántabra ha tenido un comportamiento más desfavorable que la española en el último quinquenio del siglo XX. La causa se encuentra en una inadecuada estructura sectorial, con una menor presencia de los sectores más dinámicos en el cómputo nacional. Asimismo, el incremento de la productividad del trabajo, base del crecimiento del producto, ha sido inferior al de la media española. El elevado peso de actividades tradicionales, de demanda y contenido tecnológico bajo, la reducida masa crítica empresarial y las limitaciones de las políticas industriales de carácter horizontal han socavado el impacto del desarrollo tecnológico en los últimos años.

ABSTRACT: In the final five year period of the 20th century, the industry within Cantabria has, in general, performed more unfavourably than the national one. This is caused by an inadequate sectorial structure, along with a minor presence of the most dynamic sectors in the national whole. In the same way, the increase in labour productivity, that is the basis of product growth, has been lower than the national average. The high representation of traditional activities, with short demand and technological content, the reduced managerial critical mass and the limitations of industrial horizontal policies have undermined the technological development impact in the last years.
