La pandemia del Covid-19 en el sector aeronáutico (caso de Air Europa)

Abstract

La pandemia del Covid-19 ha provocado una de las mayores crisis a nivel mundial de las últimas décadas, afectando en gran medida a la mayoría de los sectores económicos. Uno de los sectores más afectados por esta crisis ha sido el sector aeronáutico debido a las restricciones de movilidad, así como el cierre de fronteras y la disminución en la demanda de vuelos. Esta situación ha supuesto la perdida de millones a aerolíneas, aeropuertos y fabricantes de aeronaves, además de dejar en evidencia ciertas deficiencias y debilidades en el sector ante futuras crisis similares. Esta ha tenido un especial impacto en el sector aeronáutico en España, debido a la gran importancia del turismo en su economía y ha causado grandes consecuencias tanto a nivel nacional como regional. Por consiguiente, este trabajo pretende efectuar un análisis de los efectos de esta crisis en el sector (aerolíneas, aeropuertos, fabricantes…) tanto en España como a nivel mundial, así como identificar errores cometidos e implicaciones prácticas que permitan al sector estar más preparado ante una futura crisis similar como la del Covid-19. Con este fin se ha procedido a realizar un estudio en profundidad de los efectos de la pandemia en el sector en todo el mundo y en España estudiando todos los parámetros del sector de estos últimos años así como a analizar el sector poniendo como ejemplo la aerolínea Air Europa mediante un análisis DAFO y un análisis económico y financiero de la compañía de modo que podamos sacar conclusiones de la situación del sector y promulgar medidas para tratar de mejorar la situación y resiliencia del sector con el objetivo de que se encuentre más preparado ante una futura crisis similar a la de la pandemia del Covid-19

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused one of the biggest global crises in recent decades, affecting most economic sectors to a large extent. One of the sectors most affected by this crisis has been the aviation sector due to mobility restrictions, as well as the closure of borders and the decrease in demand for flights. This situation has cost airlines, airports and aircraft manufacturers millions, as well as revealing certain deficiencies and weaknesses in the sector in the face of similar crises in the future. This has had a special impact on the aviation sector in Spain, due to the great importance of tourism in its economy, and has caused major consequences at both national and regional level. Therefore, this work aims to analyse the effects of this crisis on the sector (airlines, airports, manufacturers...) both in Spain and worldwide, as well as to identify mistakes made and practical implications that will enable the sector to be better prepared for a similar crisis in the future. To this end, we have carried out an in-depth study of the effects of the pandemic on the sector worldwide and in Spain, studying all the parameters of the sector in recent years, as well as analysing the sector, using the Air Europa airline as an example, through a SWOT analysis and an economic analysis of the company, so that we can draw conclusions about the situation of the sector and enact measures to try to improve the situation and resilience of the sector with the aim of making it more prepared for a future crisis similar to that of the Covid-19 pandemic
